7 things about me:
1. I gave up ballet & dance lessons as a child because I didn't want to miss watching The Monkees on Saturdays. 2. I had about 50 pen pals as a teenager; my record was 14 letters received in one day. 3. The first concert I attended was at the Westbury Music Fair, to see Bobby Sherman. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was the opening act. 4. I've been read by John Edward at least three times. I appeared on "Crossing Over with John Edward" in 2001. 5. I love going to the movies, several times a month if possible. 6. As a Public Information Officer, I spent eight weeks at the scene of the tragic Flight 800 plane crash in the summer of 1996. 7. Before becoming a cop, I was a music teacher. I also waitressed, worked at a bakery, a deli, a real estate office, a summer camp, was a gal friday, and I delivered mail, too.

Thank you kindly, though I don't really have time to pass it on right now, I feel honored.
ReplyDeleteLoved finding out all the information about you.
Kathleen - Thank you so much!!! Wow!!! I am truly honored! That's so kind of you.
ReplyDeleteAnd most definitely, congratulations on a very well-deserved award. Your blog really is versatile - and wonderful.
Hey, I didn't know you watched The Monkees - so did I : ). And I remember that horrible crash back in '96. Being involved in that investigation must have been horrible for you...
Hi Marilyn,
ReplyDeleteNo worries, I know how busy you are...I just wanted to recognize the most talented bloggers I know!
Hi Margot,
Ah...a fellow Monkee fan! Too bad we didn't have VCRs back then. I might have continued dancing!
I will never forget Flight 800. There are images that will stay with me forever. Such a tragedy it was, a tremendous loss to so many.
Thank you for all of your kind words.
Kathleen, congratulations on your award and thank you so much for including me when passing the award on. I'm truly honored. I enjoyed learning new things about you.
ReplyDeleteI'll join the group and say I was a huge Monkees fan. I think they were the first to do music videos without knowing what they were doing. In addition, Bobby Sherman was the reason I watched Here Comes the Brides.

Thoughts in Progress
Hi Mason!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of your kind words. I enjoy your blog, and I am grateful that you stop by to visit this blog & WoM.
Oh, I watched Here Come the Brides, too! We truly are kindred spirits, aren't we? I remember cutting out a Bobby Sherman "45" from the back of a cereal box ~ and it worked! I loved "Julie, Julie" and "Easy Come, Easy Go."
You are one versatile human being, Kathleen. It is a pleasure to know you. Fun post, as always. You're welcome, and thank you.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much, Kathleen. You are so sweet to award me this. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's so cool you've been read by JE. Seeing as it's been so many times, he must be the real deal (I would love to be read by him!) Too, your pen pal one really to me back to my own childhood. We did this in school, and I remember how much I looked forward to getting that letter.
Thanks again, you wonderbar woman, you!

Hi Le0pard13,
ReplyDeleteIt's a pleasure to know you, too! Thanks again for the lovely award.
Hi Angela,
You are so deserving of this award and so much more! You are such a talented and generous soul.
My readings by JE have been phenomenal. My brother comes through each time, with absolutely amazing details.
I loved getting letters from my pen pals. I was trying to get one in every state, and I had one from Canada and from Germany, too. Most of them were fellow Osmond Brothers fans.
Thanks for your kind words, Angela!
Thank you very much, Kathleen! I cannot believe that you had 50 pen pals. When did you ever find the time to write letters to all of them? Now that's something I miss - writing letters.
ReplyDeleteAnd your varied list of former jobs probably gives you plenty of material for your writing, I bet.
I never had more than two pen pals at a time. Until I began blogging that is! Congrats. A well deserved award.
ReplyDeleteAww, shucks! Thanks so much. I'm honored :-)
ReplyDeleteSo what did you think of John Edward? Was he accurate? That's so darned cool. I've always been curious ...
—Portia
Hey, Kathleen, Mysteries and Margaritas is flattered to be on this list, but alas, we are also too busy to play with you guys. Two of us are on a deadline and the other two are trying to finish manuscripts. I will list seven things you probably don't know about me though.
ReplyDelete1. I'm a nurse.
2. My daughter was born in Taiwan, but not made in Taiwan!!
3. I lived in Saudi Arabia.
4. I have 8 siblings.
5. I married my HS sweetheart- still with him after 41 years.
6. My favorite thing to grill is Polish Kielbassi.
7. I can BS for hours but put me on a stage or ask me to speak to a group and I need oxygen!!
See, that wasn't so bad. Thanks for thinking of us.
Hi Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI loved having so many pen pals. Looking back, I realize how much I enjoyed writing. You're right, I have lots of material to pull from between all of those jobs!
Hi Charles,
I guess the youth of today have plenty of pen pals, all online. So different from handwriting a letter, putting a stamp on it, and waiting to receive a reply in the mail...
Hi Portia,
John Edward was extremely accurate and specific. I was blown away. My brother is a strong spirit and John brings him through. My brother has managed to come through in many ways, in addition to JE. He was extremely persistent when I was diagnosed with cancer. His signs were and are unmistakable. I've written about it in my true crime memoir.
Hi Liz,
I certainly understand ~ no need to do a thing. I'm so glad you shared 7 things about yourself. I just learned so much about you, in just 7 sentences! What a large family you have, and you've been blessed with a long and wonderful marriage.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Good luck to you & your blogmates with the deadlines and manuscripts.
Congrats on your Award ... Hm, now I've got The Monkees theme song playing in my head, Hey Hey We're the Monkees :)
ReplyDeleteFun list, I clicked over from Mason's blog, enjoyed browsing!
Thanks for visiting, Joanne, and your lovely comments! So glad to have you drop by. I have most of their albums, and I recently bought a CD of their music. I was itching to hear "Look Out, Here comes Tomorrow." I love Davy's vocals on it. I was a Micky Dolenz fan as a child, though. I played the tambourine in 4th grade to "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You." I still have that tambourine!
