Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast Recipe

For busy parents, writers who are attempting NaNoWriMo, hungry people in general: I'd like to share this delicious Crock-Pot recipe. Years ago, I found the "Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast" recipe by Brenda Arnold on Allrecipes.com, which now has over 5,000 reviews. I cut the recipe in half (you can instantly adjust serving size on the site) and I add potatoes and carrots. It makes an awesome gravy. Toss the ingredients in the slow cooker in the morning, and put it on low all day ~ the house will smell delicious.

Let me know if you give it a try in the future.

How about you? Do you have a favorite recipe site online? Or have an easy "never-fail" dinner recipe to share? I'd love to hear all about it!

  1. Kathleen - Oh, that looks delicious! One of my never-fail recipes for days when I don't have time to babysit the stove is my never-fail chicken and rice. And it's ridiculously easy, too:

You need: 6 chicken thighs, white or brown rice, 1 packet of Lipton onion-mushroom soup mix.

    1. Spray an 8.5 X 11 or 9 X 12 baking dish with cooking spray. Arrange chicken thighs in the dish.
    2. Add 1.5 cups white or brown rice and three cups water. Stir about half the packet of soup mix through the rice and sprinkle the other half on top of the chicken and on the surface of the rice.
    3. Cover tightly and bake for 2 hours at 350 degrees. Voila! Feeds 3-4 people, depending on how hungry they are ;-).

They are great, aren't they? Especially when it starts to get cool outside.

  5. This would be great for the weather we're having today - cold, windy, sun, rain, sleet, sun, cold and cloudy again. Have a great weekend.

  7. I would have to say my favorite site is La Cense Beef. I work with La Cense Beef, but I have recently learned how healthy grass fed beef is for you and how delicious the meat is. They also have great recipes online and right now they are having a Grassfed Beef Holiday Sale.
